The following steps explain how to measure your horse's hooves. Please download and print the order form,

on which you may draw the hooves' outlines.
The order form with outlines and measurements can be posted or faxed. See contact page for details. Please make cheques payable to A. J. Frost.
Have these materials ready before you begin: Two sharp pencils, (one pencil must be short enough to pass under the horses fetlock). Several pieces of 8-1/2" x 11" white paper. A smooth level surface. (A piece of plywood 14" x 17" is adequate).
To draw an accurate outline of a hoof hold the pencil straight up and down. It helps to, "eye" down the pencil.
Tip: Have a helper hold up the horse's opposite leg
When drawing the back of the weight bearing surface angle the pencil.
Tip: Move the pencil back and forth several times to get a good line.
Draw the outline of the bulbs. Use the short pencil.
Hold the pencil straight up and down as you draw the bulbs.
Note the weight bearing and the bulb lines.
Indicate with initials, (LF, RF, RH, LH) which hoof the outline
Measure across the widest part of the outline. Draw a line to indicate that measurement.
Write that measurement on the line.
Measure from the toe back to the weight bearing line and indicate that measurement.
Wing measurement. This "wing" measures 15 inches.
Height of coronet band at back of bulb.
Length of bulb. (measure from back of ankle to end of bulb).
